FRACTION BASICS FOR CLASS 5-6-7-8-OTHER COMPETITIVE EXAMS

Fraction Defination: भिन्न की परिभाषा :

The fraction is used to represent the portion/part of the whole thing. It represents the equal parts of the whole. A fraction has two parts, namely numerator and denominator. The number on the top is called the numerator, and the number on the bottom is called the denominator. 

अंश का प्रयोग संपूर्ण वस्तु के भाग/हिस्से को दर्शाने के लिए किया जाता है। यह संपूर्ण के समान भागों का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है। भिन्न के दो भाग होते हैं, अंश और हर। ऊपर की संख्या को अंश कहा जाता है, और नीचे की संख्या को हर कहा जाता है।

Types of Fractions: भिन्न के प्रकार :

(A) Proper Fraction: उचित भिन्न या सम भिन्न :

 If a numerator value is less than the denominator.

यदि अंश का मान हर से छोटा है।

Example : उदहारण: 3/7, 5/7, 8/11, ...................................... etc.

(B) Improper Fraction: अनुचित भिन्न या विषम भिन्न:

 If a numerator value is greater than the denominator.

यदि अंश का मान हर से बड़ा है। तो इस प्रकार के भिन्न को अनुचित भिन्न कहते है |

Example : उदहारण: 31/7, 15/7, 18/11, ...................................... etc.

(C) Mixed Fraction: मिश्रित भिन्न:

If a fraction consists of a whole number with a proper fraction, it is called a mixed fraction. 

यदि किसी भिन्न में उचित भिन्न के साथ एक पूर्ण संख्या होती है, तो उसे मिश्रित भिन्न कहा जाता है।

Example : उदहारण:  5 ¾, 11 ½, ...................................... etc.

(D) Like Fraction: समान भिन्न:

The fractions with the same denominator are called like fractions.

समान भिन्नों में, दो या अधिक भिन्नों के हर समान होते हैं। 

Example : उदहारण:  4/2, 7/2, 9/2, ...................................... etc.

(E) Unlike Fraction: असमान भिन्न:

The fractions with the different denominator are called like fractions.

समान भिन्नों में, दो या अधिक भिन्नों के हर अलग अलग  होते हैं। 

Example : उदहारण:  4/3, 7/5, 9/2, ...................................... etc.
